7 Historical Writing Prompts for July for the Creative Writer

Following on from my July inspired prompts from last week, today, my list of prompts are sourced from historical events from July. Use these as a starting point, and write for 10 – 15 minutes and see what you come up with 🙂

 

Prompt 1 – Monday

The Battle of Gettysburg (began on July 1st, 1863)

 

Prompt 2 – Tuesday

Amelia Earhart and her plane were lost in the Pacific Ocean (July 2nd, 1937)

 

Prompt 3 – Wednesday

Earnest Hemingway died through suicide (July 2nd,1961)

 

Prompt 4 – Thursday

The Fall of the Bastille (July 14th, 1789)

 

Prompt 5 – Friday

The first atomic bomb was detonated (New Mexico, 1945, July 16th)

 

Writing Prompts for July

 

Prompt 6 – Saturday

The Great Fire of Rome (began July 18th, AD64)

 

Prompt 7 – Sunday

Apollo 11 orbited the moon (July 19th, 1969)
